Sadiq has won a significant victory on behalf of Tooting residents who oppose the current planned development at the Springfield University Hospital in Tooting. Wandsworth Council's consultation on the plans for the Springfield Development will start soon and will last for almost two months, until February 2009. This is a much longer period than normal (a consultation is usually around four weeks) and represents a victory for Sadiq's campaign. Sadiq has been campaigning with local residents to ensure they are properly consulted on the planned development, and that their views are listened to. Sadiq had put pressure on Wandsworth Council to run a much longer consultation than usual, because of the size and impact of the development. A newsletter to residents who willl be affected by the development will be delivered in middle of December, marking the beginning of the consultation period.
