Business as usual
The wonder of mobile technology means I am writing this week’s email on a train back from Nottingham where I announced £530 million of government funding to extend the tram system there. Yesterday I was in Birmingham to announce a £1 million training programme for bus drivers to promote safer and more fuel efficient driving. The day before I announced a package to reform the way utility companies carry out repair works on our streets to minimise disruption.
So yes, Parliament is in recess but the work of MPs and government carries on.
The Masud Family
I can't help but mention the funeral on Friday of young Maleha Masud, which I attended, and the incredibly sad news on Saturday that her sister Nabiha had also died as a result of the horrific arson attack six weeks ago.
I have made an appeal for more witnesses to come forward.
If you know anything or know someone who does please get in touch. No information is too trivial. The police can sift though any information you have.

I continue to work with the Taskforce group of local residents to ensure that the Mental Health Trust works with the local community to come forward with workable plans for the development of this site.
We had another really useful meeting with the Chief Executive this week to discuss plans.
If you would like me to email you separately about latest the news on this please email me with "Springfield update" in the subject header.
I am here to help, whatever your politics
Until next time
