Transport cuts announced by the Mayor of London will hurt local residents and commuters hoping for improved tube and bus services in the area. Cuts to services and a ‘change to Transport for London (TfL) priorities’ will see fewer bus services on some routes, and TfL officials have refused to rule out axing some routes completely. The Mayor has also warned that there will be no more improvements to the bus network, including new bus routes, without further cuts being made elsewhere. In this context it is extremely unlikely that the Mayor and TfL will fund a new bus from Tooting Bec to Fulham and the Kings Road, contrary to promises he has made to local residents in the past. Sadiq Khan MP said, “It is important the public are treated as adults.” “I’d like a new bus route, but the Tories can’t deliver this while they are cutting services.” “Raising expectations of a new bus is treating locals with contempt.”
