|Wandsworth Council’s dirty secret|
|Wednesday, 09 September 2009 16:03|
Furzedown’s Labour Campaign Team has been out visiting council-owned blocks on Aldrington Road and has been disappointed to discovered that the deep cleaning that should be done every 6 months has either not been done, or has been done very badly.
Councillor Leonie Cooper immediately contacted Wandsworth Council’s Housing Department to find out what has been going on, and when the deep cleans would be carried out. As a result, the Council has promised to do the deep cleans in July. Cllr Cooper will personally inspect the blocks with Council officers after the deep cleans are completed.
Labour Campaign Team member Mark Thomas said, “Wandsworth has a poor track-record of looking after its tenants properly. We want to see the standard of cleaning just after it has been done to ensure Wandsworth aren’t cutting corners.”
