Gerald Jones Chief Executive Wandsworth Council Town Hall Wandsworth High Street London SW18 2PU Dear Mr Jones, I am writing to request that the consultation regarding Dog Contol Orders be extended by 4 weeks. I have been contacted by a number of concerned local residents regarding Wandsworth Council’s plans to ban dogs from specified areas of local parks and to force dog owners to keep their dogs on leads on all public footways and highways. My constituents are concerned that they have only found out about the consultation on these proposals very late in the day. I am concerned that many more local residents will still be unaware of these proposals. I appreciate that information regarding the proposals was included in Brightside. However, there are other places where information regarding the proposals should have been made available. I am particularly concerned that local veterinarians have not been made aware of the proposals. Local vets’ surgeries are ideal places to display the details of the Council’s proposals and to advertise the consultation. I know of several vets’ surgeries that would have been happy to display this information. I would like to know why local veterinarians were not informed of these proposals by Wandsworth Council and your assurance that information will shortly be sent out to local vets’ surgeries. Yours Sincerely Sadiq Khan MP |
