"What a weekend Tooting and the country has ahead of it – dozens of street parties, the biggest and best ever Balham and Tooting Community Association Fun Day, and of course, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, when millions of people across the UK (and the world) will join in celebrating her 60 years of service to the UK and Commonwealth Countries.
 
It’s been wonderful to see the preparations developing for so many street parties in the area – there are 200 planned in Wandsworth alone, and dozens in Tooting (a full list is here).  I’m particularly looking forward to the Balham and Tooting Community Association Fun Day tomorrow (12pm-5pm, Broadwater Road, SW17 7EU), which will see Broadwater Road closed making it Tooting’s biggest street party of the weekend.  It’s always one of the highlights of the year, with attractions including a giant water slide, climbing wall, sumo wrestling (!), trampolines, clowns stiltwalkers, workshops, food – the list goes on.  All money raised will go to St George’s Hospital Charity and Share a Family – a local charity which provides support for families with disabled children. 
 
I’m looking forward to seeing Tooting's diverse community uniting to celebrate the Queen's dedication and duty over the last 60 years."
