Burntwood School - new buildings and great campaigning work

Sadiq with Burntwood School students in Parliament

Last week Sadiq visited Burntwood School, where he was lucky to get a tour of new buildings and facilities that have been introduced over the last year.  This is the last of the Building School’s for the Future (BSF) funding which was cut by the government, and it’s gone to good use, replacing buildings that were literally falling apart with a modern school fit for the 21st century, and the wonderful teachers and students that make it such a great school (thank you to the Principal Helen Dorfman and her team for the tour).

The week before he'd met some Burntwood pupils in Parliament to celebrate their successes in campaigning for social justice issues, and to discuss the issues they were campaigning on, specifically land grabbing, water shortages and the benefits around Fairtrade for producers in developing countries.

Sadiq Khan said, "It was great to see how passionate the girls were about their campaign work, and the effort they were willing to put into changing the world they live in.  I am so proud that I am serving a constituency that has such an active young population who are doing their bit for society."
