![]() On Friday 15th October 2010 Sadiq Khan MP will hold his fifth annual Warm Front event at Balham Library, Ramsden Road, Balham, SW12 8QY at 10.30am.
Since being elected in 2005 Sadiq Khan has hosted 4 ‘Warm Front’ events, run by heating and energy specialists Eaga, to tackle fuel poverty in Tooting and help Tooting residents cut their energy bills by up to £600 a year.
To date over £1 million has been invested by Warm Front in Tooting with over 800 households assisted. Many of those who have benefited from the scheme are reporting average households savings of almost £200 a year. Warm Front’s Benefit Entitlement Checks have lead to an income rise of nearly £1,500 per constituent. Visitors to the event will also be able to access advice and services from the local Community Safety Team, London Fire Brigade, Citizen’s Advice Bureau the Furzedown Project and other local community organisations.
Warm Front works by providing contributions of up to £2,700 towards insulation and gas heating measures and £4,000 for oil for the elderly, disabled and low income families.
These households benefited from a range of energy efficiency measures including loft and cavity wall insulation, new heating systems and draught proofing.
Tooting MP Sadiq Khan said, “This annual event has been a huge help to hundreds of local residents, who have seen their bills cut and quality of life improve as a result of the services offered.
“With fuel prices rising, and winter approaching it’s important that as many vulnerable residents as possible get access to help with heating and energy bills.”
