| Sadiq seeks guarantees on schools funding |

Sadiq has written to the Secretary of State for Education, Michael Gove MP, asking him to guarantee that £300 million of funding which has been secured to rebuild Wandsworth's secondary schools will not be threatened by cuts to government spending. The funding, £118 million of which will be spent on rebuilding schools in Tooting, was allocated as part of the Labour government's Building Schools For The Future programme. Fears that the projects could be scrapped were fuelled by comments made by Tory Schools Minister Nick Gibbs MP during the General Election campaign, that indicated three of Tooting's four secondary schools may have the funding withdrawn (read the full story here). |
